What a pleasure! After a fantastic time at the Hungarian State Opera, here we are, back at the Opéra National de Paris. A house where I worked as assistant, as second chorus master, a house where I replaced two sooo important conductors for me Maestro Fabio Luisi and Maestro Jesus Lopez-Cobos. A house where I started, where I learned so much from all the instrumentalists of the orchestra, from all the soloists, from all the pianists and chorus members.
A pleasure to be back in the pit of the Palais Garnier, to conduct four Gala de Danse, with L’Ecole de Danse de L’opéra de Paris. Fantastic dancers, beautiful program, done for the birthday of the Opera House: Rameau D’Ores et Déjà, Conservatoire, et André Messager Les deux Pigeons. Thanks to Mlle Elisabeth Platel and to Maestro Philippe Jordan for this confidence! And, a fantastic privilège to even record Messager Les deux pigeons with such an exceptional orchestra!
See you in November dear friends, still in Garnier, with Le Parc !
A pleasure always to work in Budapest, at the Hungarian State Opera!
The company is obviously marvelous, with a desire for music and for theater really impressive. The time there is always such a pleasure. I want here to say « thank you » to all the musicians and soloists (the grâce really touched you my friends),of the Opera House. But not only. The way the company supported the artistic needs of our Backcisarai was perfect, from the planning department to the communication, the orchestra office, the technique, the library, the GMD…. We all know how much we work when we are fix in a theater, and it’s nice to see an entire theater, really everyone, involved for the maximal success!! Many many thanks to all of you. And, many thanks to Amélie and Jozefa for the help organizing these magnificent photos! Two photographs, and really a nice result: Peter, Silvia, many thanks for your work. See you very soon!!
Entre les représentations de Bahkchisarai au Budapest State Opera, une représentation à Bienne, en restant partiellement en Hongrie grâce au magnifique Radamès de Peter Eötvös! Notre spectacle ici a attiré l’attention, beaucoup.
First Performance of 2019!! Today, our second première of Radamès/Lohengrin, in Solothurn this evening! I wish all of our singers, instrumentalists, members of the Theater-Orchester-Biel-Solothurn, a fantastic première! And I wish to them and to all of you a fantastic 2019, full of musics, happiness, health, love, scores, legati, dolcissimi, con passione! Let’s play 2019 together!
This evening in Biel, première of our new production Radamès/Lohengrin.
Two modern operas: Radamès is a comedy, an opera company, without money, hiring a countertenor to sing and Aïda and Radames! And a psychological one, Lohengrin, expressing what is happening in the head of Elsa. A fantastic production of Bruno Berger-Gorski, served by talented singers, Rafal Tomkiewicz, Konstantin Nazlamov, Javid Samadov, Salvador Perez, and a real wow for Celine Steudler, our Elsa, alone on stage for Lohengrin. And an orchestra so good as characterizing the atmospheres of Lohengrin. Special thanks to Oscar, Kazuto and Vincent playing chamber music during our Radamès! And to our clarinetists for the « dream section » in Lohengrin!
This is my first time working with the Theater Orchester Biel Solothurn and its Intendant Dieter Kaegi: a fantastic company, playing so much and with a fantastically fresh desire for opera, stage, musics, full of curiosity. A real « Opera House », vivit how it needs to be. Let’s enjoy all together our première this evening!

After this fantastic summer time, with so many good musicians, in cities like Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Boston, Los Angeles, and even a jump in Toronto, here I am , back in Europe!
The season started with a stop at the Opéra National de Paris, to work a bit on the Michael Jarrel « Bérénice » score, with Philippe Jordan and a fantastic cast, including Barbara Hannigan and Bo Skovhus. It was a real pleasure. Even if i didn’t have the chance to conduct myself (it will come in March this season, be patient Yannis). To work on this level is always a gift from God.
And now, before going to Switzerland for two other modern operas, (new production that I have the pleasure to conduct in Biel, Solothurn and even Wien later on), a quick beautiful stop in Germany in Mannheim. Fantasitc house where I will have to deal with an old friend called « Werther »: such a pleasure to (re)conduct this score. The Carlos Wagner production I did already was really poetic, the one here from David Mouchtar-Samorai is more direct, « going to the point », putting the drama really high in the perception of the evening.
A really powerful cast here as well, let’s see this evening how we managed all together the poetic drama from Goethe, served by the french taste of Massenet. I will have a very nice Sunday for sure!
A real pleasure to travel this summer, to work and to discover America. Such a level…. And a work mentality really different, extremely pragmatic and smily! Wonderful cities, amazing concert halls, we did already Los Angeles (Opera House), Chicago, Detroit, yesterday the fantastic Heinz Concert Hall in Pittsburgh before leaving today for Boston.
To this trip was added a first extra concert, who saw us perform at the Sydney Opera House, a real dream. But writing today from Pittsburgh, i feel ideal to say a couple of lines about my teacher Maestro Manfred Honeck. Years ago, at the Zurich Opera House, i had Manfred as teacher. The most attentive and fantastic possible teacher, it was a real gift from god to be his student. A real honor. It was of course already very touching for me this season in october to conduct in Zurich. But I have to say that to come here, where Manfred Honeck does already 10 seasons long such a fantastic work (and sound!) with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, it’s a very particular moment. Thank you Manfred, thank you Philippe Dinkel, directeur du Conservatoire de Genève, for such a chance. I enjoy now with so much pleasure this job, and my american summer!
